Common Blue, Polyommatus icarus

The Common Blue has been figures on TN many times before, but I like this picture for the detail of the upperside of the female, while at the same time having a hint of what is underneath.

This picture was taken last Sunday in the Piedmontese Alps at about 1500m elevation. The raw picture has been cropped, resized and selectively sharpened for TN. It was taken in sulight but with some fill-in flash, although this may not have had a great deal of effect.
