I'm not sure, but I think the sea turtle on this photo, which was made in Alghero's Mare Nostrum Aquarium, might be a loggerhead sea turtle (caretta caretta).

The Loggerhead Sea Turtle is the only member of caretta genus. Adults can reach 100 kg and 1 meter in length. There is a head on a photo with powerful jaws.
Females return to lay their eggs near the same beach where they hatched. There are from 100 to 126 eggs size of a table tennis ball in the hatch. After about 60 days the youngs emerge mostly at night, when protection from predators is greater.
They can often live past 50 years, on the other hand they are on an endangered species list.

I think you are right, this is C. caretta. And a very nice portrait of sea turtle. I lie depth of field and sharpness. Note is also very nice :)

Nice portrait of this turtle ! I love the colors and patterns on her sking, and her lips look like the beak of a bird. Beautiful details and composition, and you made excellent use of your flash. Very well done !

Quite an amazing face-to-face encounter with this turtle, Mitja.
Interesting face details, rarely seen so clearly and so close-up.
It is quite a colorful turtle.
