Pieris napi (Linnaeus, 1758)

This is an extremely widespread species, found across Europe and the mountains of north Africa, in a huge variety of habitats flying throughout the season in a number of broods. It is also extremely variable in intensity of dark markings on both surfaces and also the extent of the markings.
A great number of geographical races inhabiting this region have been described, and the species also shows marked seasonal dimorphism: in particular, the spring generation is most strongly patterned.
The Green-veined White has one to three generations a year merging into each other: thus the butterfly appears on the wing practically from spring till autumn.

Ciao Marcello, non č per non ricambiare la cortesia, ma segnalare difetti in questa foto proprio non ci riesco, il bianco carogna delle ali non č bruciato ed i dettagli ci sono tutti, il fiore č magnifico, il fuoco č perfetto, ti posso dire ancora una volta solo bravo, ciao Silvio

Marcello, felicidades por esta expléndida toma. Creo que todos los parámetros básicos están buen conseguidos: luz, profundidad, enfoque, fondo, encuadre ... solo le falta a la mariposa volar, ya que es de un realismo impresionante.
A veces la belleza se encuentra en una simple Pieris !!!

Hi Marcello.
Very nice pictorial close-up picture. I like wonderful colour palette, delicate and so pleasant to eyes. POV is amazing as well as DOF. Flower and butterfly are in focus and BG is well blurred. Sharpness and details of the main subject are very good too. My compliments and kind regards.

Hello Marcello,
An excellent capture of this common butterfly but nonetheless very beautiful! I like the very sharp details of the wings and the focus on the eyes here. Beautiful colours too and I like the pink flower to go with it. Very well composed.
