Hello Peter. As you say the butterfly is happy on your thumb. You have got very close with this one which has given fine detail in the markings with natural colours. Stands out well from the plain BG. Well done TFs.

You have shown actual size of the butterfly by so attractive and rare way. I will not comment a thumbnail but image of butterfly deserves few words. Image is brilliant in all respects. Stunning details and sharpness. BG is great too. Well done. Cute work.

Hello Peter,
Of course we don't really want to see parts of our bodies when showing a particular species of butterfly, but when a butterfly chooses to make use of the salts under your thumbnail the obvious thing to do is to photograph it!
The result is excellent and shows the underside of the wings of this Alpine Heath sharply and to the best effect, while your thumb gives us some idea of the size of this small Satyrid.
