Hi Peter.
You are right. Lights really are nice as well as the delicate colours of the picture at whole and of the BG particularly. However, I thinks that wing margins are exposed very well but wings are OE a little bit. I would use a fill flash definitely is such cases. However, you do not like it. Perfectly composed impressive close-up. My best wishes and TFS.
Alexei.

Hi Peter
Nicely presented beautiful butterfly. Good sharpness perfect6 background. Maybe you coud do a little fun with shadows/highlights
Best wishes
Krzysztof

Trés jolie image, beau papillon.Mes compoliment

An expertly capture of a partly backlighted fine Polyommatus specimen with distinctly delineated eye-spots (false ommatidia) Peter, the lateral POV demonstrates the typical pattern and colouration of the b.fly in a sharply focused image.
TFS and cheers,
Mehmet

Lieber Peter,
Anne

Hello Peter,

You have hsown well the butterfly in your photo. Chosing this POV and showing the wings in the shadow you have god verydelicate color tones. Together with the sharp image allows good observation of the insect.

Thank you for sharing,
Cristian

Hi Peter,i think that the backlight isn't a perfect way to show the polyommatus, this coloreds littles butterflies need the sun on the wings to have a great vision of their fantastics colors. I have too a pic like that in my gallery, but sincerly i prefered the other side.Excuse me for the critique ;-) have a nice week and my best compliments,Luciano
