Ciao Silvio,
I like these metallic species of the Hymenoptera family Chrysididae. There are
several similar species which are difficult to be distinguishe. Nevertheless,
I propose that this is Chrysis ignita. Due to their concomitant hairiness and
iridescence, they are difficult objects for photographers,
in particular in bright sunlight.
So, you achieved a pretty good result here.

I don't think this is just 'pretty good', it is brilliant as you've managed to catch this at an angle where all these magnificent metallic colours are at their best! You've also found it in a fine pose against a nice neutral background. Well done and worth a celebration!

I have just written about HP's rainbow and then Ullas unknown fly and now to your insect which combines unusually enough both things...insect and almost rainbow sharkskin colours with sheen. A perfect segue! Very nice Silvio. It is Saturday...get a drink on me, go to confession then forget about it...and be happy! Your imaging is always fine!

This is a very unusual insect!
Its irridescent colours make it appear to have its own lighting system!

Chrysidae hymenopterans are not easy to photograph - they are fast, very mobile and usually small. You took a very nice picture of interesting object, and even if DOF is not perfect - the presentation is very interesting :)

Bonjour Silvio,
20.000 points avec cette adorable petite abeille, félicitations. Je suis en retard, comme toujours. Tu as bien présenté diagonalement l'insecte qui brille de mille feux au soleil.
Je la connais bien cette abeille métallique, car elle fréquente aussi ma rocaille au chalet.
