Superfamily: Papilionoidea

Family: Lycaenidae

Genus: Celastrina

Species: C. argiolus

The Holly Blue (Celastrina argiolus), is a butterfly that belongs to the Lycaenids or Blues family and is native to Eurasia. In India, it is known as the Hill Hedge Blue .
The butterfly was earlier known as Lycaenopsis argiolus Woodmason.
It is found in Eurasia. In South Asia, it occurs from Chitral in Pakistan to Kumaon in India

Celastrina argiolus (Linnaeus 1758) Piccolo argus
Ali anteriori 13-17 mm
Descrizione
Biologia

Hello Silvio, wonderful close-up with soft light and nice details.
TFS and G's, Mehmet

Hi Silvio,
I think this is probably Celastrina argiolus, called the Holly Blue in England. The shape of the abdomen suggests that this is a female. The upperside should be pale blue with wide blackish borders. Details are very sharp on the body but a little soft on the wing edges, while the colours are very natural. Thanks.
Alan

Hi Silvio
I also think that it is Celastrina argiolus. Maybe it is not perfectly sharp but composition and OOF background is very good. As a documentary shot very good job
Best wishes
Krzysztof
