Satyrium spini

Questa piccola farfalla, con apertura alare 28 -32 mm, appartiene alla famiglia dei Licenidi.

Nell'ambito del suo gruppo (sottofamiglia delle Teclinae, genere Satyrium), questa farfalla risulta facilmente distinguibile per la caratteristica macchia azzurra, che si trova sull'angolo inferiore del rovescio delle ali posteriori, ben visibile quando questa farfalla è posata ad ali chiuse, situazione che in pratica si verifica ogni volta che è posata, in quanto non mostra quasi mai il dorso delle ali. Il rovescio bruno dell'ala posteriore presenta a partire dalla macchia azzurra anche una fascia arcuata di alcune macchie arancioni submarginali punteggiate di nero. Caratteristica comune con le altre Tecle sono delle brevi code sul margine delle ali posteriori
La presenza della macchia azzurra rende questa farfalla praticamente inconfondibile e la si può incontrare ai margini dei boschi, di radure boschive estese e lungo le siepi, sempre che siano presenti le piante nutrici, a quote che in Italia possono superare anche i 1500 metri s.l.m.

E' una farfalla localmente comune, ma spesso le popolazioni sono isolate ed è presente nella fascia europea fino al 54° parallelo Nord circa, per cui non si trova nel Nord Ovest della Francia, nei Paesi Bassi e nella penisola Scandinava, mentre a Sud non è sempre presente e manca in molte isole mediterranee, in Italia ad esempio non è presente né in Sicilia né in Sardegna.

In genere ha una sola generazione all'anno. Le piante nutrici del bruco sono spino cervino (Rhamnus) e prugnolo (Prunus spinosa).
Lo sfarfallemento avviene a partire da fine Giugno e gli adulti volano fino a Luglio ed Agosto.

Continuo con la pubblicazione su TN di quelle specie di farfalle che ho già fotografato e che non ho ancora inserite nella mia galleria.

La fotografia

E' stata scattata a circa 1300 m s.l.m. sempre utilizzando il 300 mm alla minima distanza di messa a fuoco. Questa farfalla, dalla inconfondibile macchia submarginale azzurra, si può comunque scambiare soprattutto con alcune congeneri come Satyrium w-album, che però, oltre alla caratteristica linea che forma la lettera w, ha delle macchie submarginali solo di colore arancione e nero e come Satyrium pruni, che si distingue avendo una fascia submarginale di macchie arancioni e nere più vistosa, che si estende anche all'ala anteriore, ben evidente nell'immagine di Dietrich Meyer (meyerd)

E' un caso decisamente raro questa foto,si vede che e' un gran spettacolo gia' dalla miniatura....un'accoppiata vincente tra la satyrium e la fioritura sottostante,insomma una di quelle belle composizioni che mi piacciono tanto.Una volta di piu' complimenti per la competenza nel campo....e per le sempre interessanti note che aiutano i poveri dilettanti come me.Buona settimana,LUCIANO

These flowers attract the loveliest butterflies. We don't get to see this Blue Spot Hairstreak often on TN. The colors and wing markings are exceptionally pretty. The little body and big eye are wonderful. An excellent composition.
