This is a female of the beautifully and artistically
patterned spider:
- Aculepeira ceropegia
- family: Aranaeidae

German: Eichblatt-Radspinne
English: Oak Spider
French: Epeire des bois

The species prefers open and sunny habitats.
In the Alps, it can be found up to 2500m.
Body length: about 12 mm
With a body length of 7 - 8mm, males are smaller. Furthermore, they show
quite distinct body proportions. In contrast to the females, the width of
their abdomen is similar to that of the cephalothorax.

Location: North-Italian Alps, Val d'Ultimo, on the way to Kornigl-Mountain, about 2100m.

Here, you can see another spider from Val d'Ultimo.

Hi Peter,
Very nice. Sharp details. Vivid colours. TFS.

Hello Peter

This is an impressive macro! Beautiful colors and POV. If I may say, the lighting on the spider can be slightly better - but it always tricky with macros without a flash.

TFS and Best

Hi Peter,
These are really beautiful spiders with marble like patterned abdomen. Smooth shot you achieved especially on the bg. Also nice framing with diagonal position of the spider.

Hervorragend gelungen!

Beste Grüsse
Dieter

Clear, big and filling spaces, just how I like them... and furthermore, a new specie to me. Nice POV to see the pattern.
