Genus: Onychogomphus

It's a Onychogomphus uncatus male and his special feature is the tips of his abdomen, or his appendages. They are one of the distinctive features of all the males from this genus of dragonflies.
General characteristics:
This is one of the most common and widespread Onychogomphus species from Europe, occurring in large parts of the continent.
Males perched on a streamside rock, with their claspers raised, are a typical sight in summer, especially in the south.
This is a medium sized anisopteran, with a total length between 46-50mm.
Habitat: largely unshaded (usually rocky) rivers and streams. Occasionally occurs at large lakes.
Flight season: typical Gomphid of summer, from May to September.

Very difficult name to pronounce in Latin, Luciano, but the fellow is tough looking and handsome. I like its green eyes.

Splendida macro di questo gonfide (mai fotografato), ottimi POV e DOF, mi piace molto il taglio compositivo con l'insetto sulle diagonali (corpo ed ali) che con il posatoio forma delle linee contrapposte trapezoidali, ottima definizione, bellissimi i colori e BG a chiazze verdi.
