[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Alpine Chough (Pyrrhocorax graculus), also called Yellow-billed Chough (pronounced "chuff") is a Eurasian member of the crow family, Corvidae.

It breeds locally in the highest mountains of southern Europe, the Alps, across central Asia and India. It is resident throughout its range.

It is closely related to the Red-billed Chough (Pyrrhocorax pyrrhocorax) and shares its glossy black plumage and red legs. However, the Alpine Chough's long curved bill is yellow rather than red.

It is slightly smaller at 36-39 cm length and a 65-74 cm wingspan, but has a relatively longer tail and shorter wings. It has a similar buoyant and easy flight.

This bird is often gregarious and fearless. Its loud "zrrrrr" call is quite different from that of the Red-billed Chough.

Its food consists of insects in summer and berries or food scraps, especially around ski resorts, in winter. A cavity or cliff ledge is a site for the bird's nest.

Hello Philip,

This is a great flying bird-shot. The details on the bird are very sharp and the composition is great. The bird itself is well exposed also but I find the whites in the BG rather distracting. Anyway, well done & TFS!

Regards,
Pieter

Great POV Philip. Good shot of the wingspan. Magnificent looking bird. Great details. Thanks.

Dramatic and simply nice. Would have liked some more detail in the face area, but otherwise good sharp detail. I like the background too.

Another grea flight, another great photo.

Sharpness is excellent, as well as dof and pov.

Maybe I would feel tempted to clone the brilliant area on top left, but that's just an opinion.

This is an amazing bird and shot! TFS.

Very striking capture, Philip. The light on the underside is very impressive. Lovely composition. The bright spot is a bit distracting but I still like it a lot.

Would a polarizing filter have done anything for it? I am considering to get one.

Another good in flight shot Philip,
The detail of the bird are excellent and very sharp.
I find the OE in the BG disturbing. sorry.
Thanks for posting, have a good weekend Philip.

Hi Philip, very nice capture. Very good light on and under the chough. Red legs have incredible detailed. Focus, especially on the head is a bit soft IMO, but it is not an easy capture.
Well done.

Great exposure and detail under the wings Philip.
Nicely positioned in the frame, the background is a little distracting, but a fine shot all the same.

Very good flight-In, Philip.
Good details, well composed and nice colours.
The bird is well expososed.
Very well done, my friend.

Like Pieter and Livio, I think the OE background is very distracting from an otherwise excellent shot of the chough. I have done a workshop to show what a bit patience beforehand might have achieved. Hope you don't mind.
You did quite well to get these guys in flight.

Excellent capture of this Alpine Chough Philip. Great composition, exposure, details and framing. I like the fact that your BG fits this magnificent creatures name, with the snow of the alps visible, Well done!

Hi Philip, another excellent shot of yours. I like the DOF on this shot, nice details and clarity. How did you take this shot? did you fly next to it? Is the bg the ground? Excellent captured. TFS

Hi Philip
Seems to me you were away and getting very nice shots! Know this one, but have not seen it yet! The exposure is great on the wing, especially if one considers the BG light. Nice POV too. TFS
