(Otiorrhyncus sulcatus L.)

E' un coleottero curculionide lungo circa 1 cm, di colore nerastro lucido, con talvolta dei peli e delle macchie grigie.
Ha il capo allungato, portante all'estremità due antenne piegate a 90°. Le elitre hanno delle striature longitudinali.

Ciclo
Compie una generazione all'anno. Sverna sotto forma di adulto nel terreno. Alla ripresa vegetativa, in primavera, gli adulti si spostano sulla pianta dove, nelle ore più fresche e durante la notte, rodono le gemme, i germogli e le giovani foglioline. A luglio depongono le uova nel terreno. Dalle uova si sviluppano le larve, che rodono le radici della pianta.
Le larve quindi si svilupperanno in pupe e successivamente in adulti.

Danni
Sono dovuti all'attività di erosione compiuta da questo coleottero ai danni della vegetazione. In alcuni casi possono ridurre in scheletro l'intera pianta. Difesa: si può intervenire nei confronti degli adulti somministrando Endosulfan.

Hi Paolo, it's a great shot - well seen and captured. I wonder if it is a little over sharpened. Well done.

Muy buena composicion y oportunidad captada Paolo.
La accion de los insectos es atractiva.
Buena agudeza, aunque se aprecia un alto nivel de ruido en la imagen.
Buen encuadre y notas tambien.
Realicé un Workshop, intentando reducir este efecto... espero te agrade.

Paolo, This is a good shot composed nicely showing the mating pair very well. In spite of the noise level ( I see Ricardo's workshop improved it considerably), it's a noteworthy post. Perhaps you cropped too much from the original? Thanx for posting this one!

Great moment caught here, for you and the insects! The sharpness is good and so is the exposure. I also like Ricardo's w/s because most of the noise is gone.
