Zygaena transalpina (Esper 1780),
resting on Hypericum.

Southern Six Spot Burnet, on St. John’s Wort.
Hufeisenklee-Widderchen, an Johanniskraut.

Wingspan approx. 35 – 40mm

Ordo: Lepidoptera
Family: Zygaenidae

Same species as presented a few days ago, making the best of a rainy day: relaxing. Taken from a side point of view allowing to see all the six spots on the forewing.

The picture was taken in Italy near Malcesine on Monte Baldo, overlooking Lago di Garda at an elevation of approx. 1900m above sea level, July 9, 2005.

Camera: Minolta DiMAGE 7Hi, with integrated tele-zoom and macro. No tripod, no flash. 2560x1920, sRGB, 51mm, F/4, 1/250sec, ISO-100. 09.07.2005, 11:08. Picture slightly cropped and downsized for the web.

Nice work with this macro.
Good composition and POV, DOF is well handled and BG good, exposure is well balanced and colours are great. I just seem to think that the exact point of focus might have been a little behind the insect.

Another flying visit - just packing for another trip! Another nice shot of this species. It's a pity that the light wasn't quite good enough to show the attractive iridescence well, but we play the cards we are dealt!

the moth is a little out of pov, but an the other way you have a fantastic pov with the flowers, and the dof is great too, therefore I like the shot, very good job.
