Maschi e femmine sono molto simili nella forma, ma differiscono nel colore. Il maschio ha il capo verde metallico, stretto collare bianco e il petto bruno porporino con becco giallastro. In contrasto, la femmina ha colori mimetizzanti: macchiata di bruno, becco bruniccio. Entrambi i sessi sono anche caratterizzati da un largo specchio porpora viola compreso tra due strisce bianche sulle ali. In fase di riposo assume un caratteristico aspetto compatto, con i fianchi evidenziati dai colori delle ali ripiegate. Durante il periodo di cambio delle penne indispensabili al volo, il maschio assume una livrea molto simile alla femmina....wikipedia

What a beautiful wild duck you have here!
It's colors are impressive and that characteristic blue patch is very lovely and well visible!
