Araschnia levana known as European Map butterfly.
Family: Nymphalidae
There are spring and summer generation
Flight Time: May-June, July-Aug
The Map Butterfly has a wingspan of 30-43 mm. It has a very fast flight but often settles on bushes or plants quite high above ground. The difference betwen male and female is slight, the wings of the male being slightly more pointed. Their habitat is usually wetlands with wind shelter of deciduous trees. |
