Mostly known for the bee beetle (Trichius fasciatus)in my garden.
Bee beetle is the name given to several beetle species of the Scarabaeidae family, mainly Trichius fasciatus, but also for example Trichius zonatus, or Trichius abdominalis. The whole body is covered with yellow hairs, except the wing-cases (elytra), which have yellow and black stripes. They can reach about 9 to 12 mm in length. The larvae develop in rotting wood, the adults feed on blossoms. The adults feed on sugar-rich secretions of stems, leaves, fruits and flowers of different plants. |
