| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
| Heath Fritillary (Mellicta athalia), while in other butterflies like some Lycaenids, Pierids or Satyrids there are pattern and colour differences that tell the sexes. This species is widespread and in certain years locally abundant, in most of Europe. The best habitats are woodland clearings where flowers and the host plants are to be found. |
