Wingspan: 40 – 50mmDistribution: Canary Islands, Madeira, North Africa, Southern, Central and Eastern Europe, Southern Sweden and Finland, Turkey. Not native in the UK and Ireland, but sometimes found as a migrant. In Europe from the coast up to 2500 meters above sea level. In the southern range of its distribution the species can be found from February to late autumn, in Central Europe from April to October in two to three generations.
The butterfly likes dry meadows, and all kinds of rocky or sandy sunny spots.
