[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
a young mute swan growing up in our wildlife care center.

Young birds, called "cygnets", are not the bright white of mature adults, and their bill is black, not orange, for the first year. The color of the down may range from pure white to grey to a buff color. The grey/buff coloration is more widespread in cygnets around the world. The white colored cygnets have a leucistic gene, seen most often in the north central states in America and in Poland. All mute swans are white at maturity.

Hi Carole. What a nice look on its face almost sad. good light in the eye. with fine detail in the feathers.you have some noise in the background you could get this out with a free download it is called Neatimage. well done TFs.
nick..

Good shot of the young cygnet Carole. Dof keeps the head sharp and fades to a nice downy feel on the body. Head a bit central and I think would look better with a crop losing some to the right. Best, Brat.

Amazing exposure and outstanding detail in your photo. The angle is excellent and you got a nice glint of light in eye. I think you captured well the softness of the feathers. The noise shows in the darker background but I think it can be filtered out of your excellent photo. (I will try in workshop).
Best regards,
Ken

Buen retrato y enfoque del pequeño cisne. Buen encuadre y acertado que se vea parte del cuerpo del ave. Fondo correcto. Saludos Carole.

Hi Carole,
Very nice, sharp, well focused portrait of this cute youngster. I liked the pose and the composition. TFS
Best wishes,
Selen

Hello Carole,
A nice composition. Very nice close up and portrait.
There is some noise in the background though. Maybe it was a big crop or a high ISO rate. Could be edited through for example blurring or maybe even better using what they call a one trick poney such as Neatimage. Haven't used the latter myself though(only tried the lite version or something like that...)
TFS

Hello Carole

A very lovely shot of this baby mute swan. The lighting is very good, with nice catch light in the eye.The POV is excellent, and the shallow DOF puts the focus on the cygnet's face. The shot has an almost painting like quality to it.TFS
