Hi Krzysztof,
Congratulations on your 100th post. Beautiful butterfly picture to mark this special occasion. Your 100th note is wonderful. TFS this nice shot and your thought. Regards,
JC
So you finally made your maiden century -- as we Cricket-crazy Indians like to say when someone scores 100 runs in the game.
Congratulations!!!
First of all, let me tell you that you have written the most honest note along with your 100th post. I agree with you 100%; you have hit the nail exactly on the head.
~
Coming to your landmark post today, it is a crisp, clear and colourful image of a Swallowtail (am I right?) butterfly minus one tail. The POV is very effective, showing the best features and details on the butterfly's open wings. The OOF BG and slightly OOF Zinnia flower make the image very attractive and technically superior.
(Is my critique up to the standard?)
~
Finally, I am honoured by your assessment of me as a member of "great team" from India.
I also thank you for showing us your limited but distinguished work in the past two years. I particularly enjoyed your pictures taken during your trip to Antarctica.
I know for certain that your next 100 would make a great contribution to TN, no matter at what pace they appear here.
Best regards,
Ram
Krzysztof,
Congratulations on your 100th post!Such a beautiful shot!!Very sharp and nice POV!
Thanks you!

Goldy
Hi Krzysztof,
Firstly, may i thank you for including me in your list above! There is room for improvement here, the system is not perfect and is open to abuse by a small minority i guess, but i think on a whole TN is a very special place with alot of special people who none of us would ever have come into contact with otherwise. For this privelage, we just have to take the bad with the good i think.
Anyway, congrats on yoru 100th post my friend! In this time you have shown me parts of the world i have long dreamed of seeing with my own eyes, and for that i thank you. This is a great shot to celebrate with too. Wonderfully clear, beautiful colours and an excellent DOF. Hope to see another 100 from you!
Paul
Hello Krzys,
Congratulations on your 100th Post and thanks for all the splendid shots you've shown us so far!
I think points are totally unnecessary, it is the encouraging comments and constructive critiques that matter. But, "there are all sorts to make the world" and some have a gift to be able to write easily, others are not confident in using a language that is common to many of us. So this problem is no doubt here to stay.
Anyway - this is a superb capture of the Swallowtail to celebrate with. Great focus, excellent sharpness, lovely colours, fine background and very well composed. The only thing I miss is one of the tails! :-)
TFS and I look forward to the next 100! Ulla
Hello Krzysztof,
I read your long note with interest.
For this image I want to give you a 2-pts smiley for the following reasons:
1. This is your 100th post
2. It is a beautiful capture of I. podalirius.
3. Though not perfect, it is technically and esthetically superb. Some might give you only 1 point because the wing tips are slightly OOF: that in my opinion is against the spirit of this site.
4. You have written a relevant note to the occasion even though most of the content is a forum subject.
Congratulations Krzysz! I hope you will continue to be active on TN for a long time!
Best wishes, Ivan
Hi, dear Krzysztof.
Many thanks for your hundred posts, your always interesting notes and your kind comments. Thanks a lot for 100th wonderful picture and amazing note for it. I am sure the point system is one of the most bad thing in TN. But I wish to be friends with many people and this system (and other weak its) points are not an issue for this. I like that you are here with us, with your honest position and with your wonderful shots. My hearty congratulations.
Alexei.

Hi Krzsztof . congratulation on 100 postings.what a beautiful one to load . great detail and colour in the large butterfly. a good top POV. well done TFS.

Ciao Krzysztof,
Marcello
P.S.: Spero che tu capisci quello che ho scritto. Scusa, ma non so scrivere in buon inglese :)
Josep Ignasi Tejedor

hello Krzysztof ,
first of all please accept my best wishes and congratulations on posting your 100th shot, it has bee a wonderful experience having you here with us, delighting 100 times with your so versatile kind of photography deserves to be appreciated, your gallery is a proof of what i have just said,i loved seeing Antarctica through your eyes.
i have gone through your notes and agree to it.you are very honest in putting your opinion, if these points could be followed i am sure that we can do better here,
i am thankful to you that you have mentioned my name in the Indian team and included me in the list of our great TN team.
This post is perfect to be your 100th post and its butterfly , i liked the pov which offers us this beauty with good details, liked the lovely colours, good lighting and a pleasing composition,
well done,
tfs & regards

Hello Krzysztof,
Congratulations for your 100th post. I read your note and you are right, but the system is like that. I think it is good that TN remains a space of freedom, people do what they will with their points, and as long as you not accord too much importance of them, it does not matter.
Regarding your last picture, it is well composed. Good focus on the butterfly. Very good natural colours.
Cheers,
Mariki
Now what a superb note!
It's touched on just about everything we've discussed about critiquing. Hopefully it will make people think.
Also thankyou very much for my mention :-D
Well for me this is a truly stunning capture!
Other than the fact that maybe the DOF is slightly too shallow, this photo is perfect!
The striped patterns on this butterfly's wing work well together with the pink flower and the eye-spots on the tail are like the "icing on the cake!"
Very good sharpness and superb detail.
Nicely blurred BG and you've got the focusing right on the head and antenna.
Bright, vivid colours, nice warm lighting and perfect all-round exposure.
Really, really good work Krzysztof!
And a massive congratulations for posting your 100th photo!
Best regards,
Joe
I totally agree with the commentary writings, all i can say we are all humans and most problems arise from the unrepairable characteristics of the human soul. Points indeed would only be evaluated as the way of encouragement to amamteurs, as no points can define how professional you are. Congrats for the 100th post.
Hi Krzysztof
Congratulations for reaching this nice landmark...finally :))
But nobody can accuse you of anything - i mean you took one of the longest and biggest trips in this period, too :)
This is a great occasion for posting you favorite butterfly - this lovely Iphiclides podalirius. A superb pose and a great upper POV for us to enjoy those terrific patterns and colors on its upper side of the wings.
It's a bit shape that one of this "tails" is torn, but it's still a great macro shot even so :)
What you say in you note is also true. It's a problem TN had conflicted often with, but i think that by just acing civil and with common sense, we will be able to give an honest critique in which you can speak your mind.
Anyway, looking forward for your next 100, my friend!
Bravo and TFS

Hi Krzysztof,
CONGRATULATIONS on reaching this huge landmark. It always is such a happy moment to reach a landmark and I can understand your feelings at this juncture. Wish to see many many more of your beautiful captures.
Thank you also for having me in your Indian Team and letting me remember our inactive friends. I feel honoured. You have also brought up a few contentious issues, some valid but some absolutely personal. One has to understand that TN is not everything for a lot of people but they are here because they love nature and its inhabitants. Let them enjoy the way they like most. It is an individual choice of how one wants to have his/her presence felt here and if we don't like someone's attitude, let us not respond to them. Also regarding points, I am sure most of us here are not here to gain points, there is no competition going on and the pleasure of friends appreciating ones work is truely priceless. I know for certain everyone would vouch for it. Anyway, the day everyone of us agree on one particular thing the world will collapse, hahaha. The debate/argument continues........
You really celebrate this joyous moment with an outstanding shot with immaculate sharpness, fabulous colours and amazing details. Great lighting, DOF and POV and the composition is superb. Kudos.
TFS.

Hi Krzysztof,
congrats om your 100th post and thanks for all your decent and
honest comments, I agree with your great note.
The picture is very nice with lovely colours and fine details.
I like the composition and the PO.
Well done, mf.
Hi Krzysztof,
Congratulations on your 100th posting; and a great shot to demonstrate how good a photographer you are. These macro shots really aren't easy and you consistently pull them out of the bag. Great detail, lovely colours and light, nice soft background and great pov. You also understand composition and have a good eye for a shot. I'm looking forward to the next 100.
I also agree with your sentiments above. The number of smilies isn't an indication of how good a picture is and there's a danger that, unless people take the time and give thought to providing a proper critique, TN will become nothing more than a back-patting service and none of us will learn anything.
I've always appreciated your constructive critiques.
Kind regards,
Mike

Belissima foto desta borboleta encantadora e bela, o desenho em suas asas parecem listras de felinos. A nitidez ficou exelente e a imagem esta bem limpa.

Hi Krzysztof
Firstly, a BIG and admiring CONGRATULATION on your 100th posting. Keep on going and 200 and 300 etc. is just down the line.
Secondly, a very interesting note. Thanks for this honest, practical, and very sober discussion on the topic. I sincerely appreciate your thoughts on this matter and fully agree with you.
Thirdly, about the merits of your photo. Although the butterfly is slightly damaged (so what?) that is nature. We see animals with missing limbs, absent horns, massive scars, etc. and nobody ever complains about that. To the contrary, people would rather be sympathetic, but why is it when a butterfly is short of a piece of its wing people might criticize or find fault with it. I'm not implying that it happened here with your posting as I am only making a general observation (although it was mentioned by a couple in the passing), but I think it is a valid point. Animals survives in a dangerous world where predators are continuously on the prowl to catch, snare, trap, seize, and ultimately devour them and having these scars or damage actually tells us something about a victorious encounter. It tells us that somewhere, sometime this guy was actually a winner in some way or another. Maybe it was a lizard that got hold of that piece of wing, maybe a bird attacked it and by some piece of luck the fortunate butterfly escaped, maybe even some child wanted to catch it for his butterfly collection, but the crafty insect ducked and dived its way out of the catching net, etc. Who knows? Ok, I know, I totally gone of the track, but you get my picture (chuckle).
Anyway, your butterfly was captured in perfect details, which more than adequately makes up for the little piece of missing wing. The amazing details and exquisite patterns can be seen in such clarity and in fine focus. The exposure levels are spot-on rendering excellent contrasts between the darker and the brighter areas, the colours are well saturated, and I like the OOF and well removed BG that compliments the subject very well.
Good work and TFS.
Regards

Hallo Krzysztof
Congratulations on your 100th post. I still have a longggggggg way to go to reach that milestone. In the short time I have been a part of Trek Nature you have shown me parts of the world I never even knew existed. Those countries will always just stay a part of a dream which I'll never be able to have the pleasure to witness myself. You have shared a true masterpiece with this dedication to all Trek Nature members. Amazing specimen, almost like a piece of artwork. Great quality of the shot. Excellent sharpness and details, so attractive with wonderful and rich colours Thanks for sharing.
Kind regards
Anna
Krzysztof,
Very sharp and detailed image with nice natural colours. You've done a great job composing this shot. Looks like you could actually reach down and pick it up, right out of the photo. TFS

Hi Krzysztof,
Congrats for the 100th - I know I'm a bit late with this, but the image is magic. Perfect composition, wonderful details of a butterfly. I met this specie a few times in my parents' garden and in the mountains, too, but never managed to shoot a useful photo, because this butterfly's fast and doesn't "sit" to flowers for too long.
So, congrats for making this superb shot, too, and of course, tfs. Have a nice weekend, greetings from Hungary, László
Czesc Krzysiek,
Gratuluje Ci 100-go zdjecia.
Pozdrawiam Cie serdecznie - Roma
wow...
nice shot
I remember this butterfly, 20 years ago it was full of them, in my grandmother's garden and in the parks, but since then I think I have seen this beautiful butterfly just once or twice
Thanks for this photo

Hello Krzysztof
Congratulations on your 100th and thank you very much for all these marvellous pictures with which you have delighted us so far. This one is really astonishing and beautiful. How marvellous in all aspects! I like a lot the POV, colors and composition. The details on the butterfly are sharp and clear and it stands out perfectly against the beautiful flower and bg.
Congratulations and thank you very much for sharing.
Best wishes

Congratulations on your 100th post. I totally agree with your comments. I'm an amateur photographer with little experience and one of the reasons i just joined TN was because i wanted experienced users to show me my mistakes and learned from them, i know my critiques are not too good, mainly because i'm still learning about DOF, POV, OOF, etc, and have received few critiques, maybe i have to improve before i get more critiques ( i just bougth a book for macro shooting :) ), but one thing is sure, this is a great site and a great place to learn by example.....
