[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Pitirross is the maltese word for the Robin. It derives from the Italian pettorosso. These birds migrate to Malta in Autumn and spend the winter here, filling our valleys and gardens with their beautiful song. One of their favourite haunts is the carob tree which is rather common in Malta. A strange characteristic of this bird is that besides being very territorial, each individual always occupies the same tree every time they return.
Shot was taken at full zoom - x12 and in very low light conditions. Adjusted contrast and gamma post-capture
