This anemona is in Oceaonografic museum in Monaco.
The sea anemone, Anemonia of the sulcata-group frequently occurs on rocky shores of the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. The animals harbour symbiotic algae of the genus Symbiodinium within their endoderm. Because of this association the animals can only be found in well illuminated habitats. Referring to the habitus, the distribution and the mode of reproduction two ecotypes (I & II) of Anemonia sp. can be distinguished in the Mediterranean Sea |
