Believe me or not, but this is one and only picture of dragonfly I took during holidays in Kotor. Really strange place from nature lover point of view. Beautifull landscapes - fjord, mountains, gulf, fantastic sky and thunderstorms. But also houses, roads, ports and very limited acces to 'wild' areas. After few days of intense searching I founded small path from city to mountains. After passing Old Town, two bridges, big parking lot and Vodovod [which means waterworks] one finally enjoy nature. Kotor's mountains are very rocky, with almost no trees and bushes. Just few fig trees and wild flowers. Before holiday I expected paradise with many unknown to me species of butterflies and other insects. Unfortunatelly, I was in wrong place or wrong time. Few butterflies, one mantis, few bees and hornets. Almost no lizards and birds. Very dissapointing...

A shame the only one Greg,
but I know the problems about some insect. We had in the Netherlans a bad butterfly seisoen, same as last year. The dragons are there but they not always want to sit and for a phtographer thats also a problem. You made a good shot here, a shame it is the only one my friend.

Why, thank you Greg! Fancy that, a Pohutukawa tree in Kotor, Montenegro. And what a super view you had from the hotel.
And your dragonfly, very good shot of him. Nice and sharp, excellent clarity. But a pity you didn't get many other nature shots though. But a great holiday and many photos and notes to remember it all by!

Really beautiful sharp shot, wonderful colours and nice compo, but I agree with Annick that the bottom part is too long and as the dragonfly is very sharp it deserves to come closer.

Un bonito POV con excelente DOF y foco que contribuye con un excelente trasfondo.
Me agrada el encuadre de la rama bien larga con el insecto arriba... aunque la nitidez en tu workshop es superior.

Wonderful capture.POV,sharpness,clear details,simple BG and composition are excellent.

You still got a gem of a dragon picture from Kotor, Greg. (And I keep on complaining about my trip to India washed out by excessive monsoon rains this year!)
Excellent POV, DOF and natural colours in this picture. The long stick fills the space well in the vertical orientation of this picture.
