[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
One of my few macros from Montenegro. One day, early morning, we were going to breakfast in our hotel. On hotel's stairs Joanna spotted big and colorfull dragonfly. I took my cam and carefully took few photos. Then I realised that this beauty is dead. Marble stairs made perfect BG for insect's wings - we can see every vein on them.

Funny thing is, that I saw almost no insects around Kotor in mountains or forests. Most pictures I took around our hotel ;-)

Well, trust you to find a dead insect Greg! He doesn't look dead, but he was a good model for you to practice on! He has attractive colours, and you show him nice and sharply too.
Quite strange about the lack of insects.
BTW, summer arrived here this weekend, and should last for a few more days too, hopefully.

Hi Greg

Indeed excellent contrast between the marble and the wings of this big hawker! You really can see absolutely everything!
Otherwise the picture is great, with super sharp details, lovely colros and a really great diagonal composition.
Very well done!

Poor dragonfly ! But your picture shows him very nicely, he doesn't look dead, and the marbles makes a wonderful BG - as you say the details on the wings are awesome. Details, colors, composition, POV, all these things are excellent too, as usual from you. Very well done !

That's one way to get a good shot, just kill it then place it in a good location, ha ha, just kidding :)

brilliant coours and details, a very fragile jewel - even dead. I wonder if that image would look even more fresh, free and poetic all over without a narrow black border around. Good matter of fact notes to come with that pretty image.
