[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Yesterday I visited Dwingelderveld National Park. The largest wet headland in western Europe. The difference in height makes this such a special place. There are dry sand hills and wet marsh areas. This also brings along a great variety of flora and founa. You can find vipers in the dry sand areas and sundews in the wet areas. There are 6 different types of orchids (I've found one) two types of heather and many different birds around the small pools and forrest.

Here I am standing on top of one of the sandy hills next to the 'Dorstenveen.' I took this photo inbetween two rain showers were there was just enough light to break the clouds and illuminate the grasses and heather. The advantage of this kind of weather is that many people will stay at home so less interference and more opportunity to see and hear the wildlife.

The photo was shot using my tripod and an ND8 grad fliter. It was shot in RAW. I adjusted the white balance for a slighty warmer tone and converted it to TIFF. A minor adjustment in levels was needed. USM, frame, resize, conversion to 8-bit and saving to JPEG was needed to TN.

Ha Niek,
long time no hear. Erg fraaie foto hier.
Groeten, Jacob

I like the effect created by this wide angle Niek. It gives a great dynamic to the image especially in the sky. This exposure and composition are superb! As always, this is well exposed and agreeable to look at. Thanks,
Claudine

Hello Niek,
This is a fine composition, where you make well use of what is present!
The tree is a must to make this work, the lake is also a welcome addition...
Tech wise top shelf!
Personally I'd most likely get problems if I should photograph a landscape like this as I'm used to an entirely different topography...
Greetings,
Pablo -

Hi Niek

We have an SSSI where we live which is a very similar landscape to this but with a lot more trees. It makes it very diffiult to photograph for someone like me who loves the mountains, so it never ceases to amaze me when you manage to produce a picture like this. Despite being 'flat' as I know it, you have managed to include so much detail, both in the foreground and the sky, right down to the dead branch in the lower right hand corner.

Hi Niek

I have just got back from Blakeney Point in Norfolk - a very similar environment. I really like the sky here. Also the exposure is very good.

James

Hi Niek.
I like your common (or natural for me and our places) but very nice landscape so much. It is composed and detailed very well. Lights and colours are natural and pleasant, DOF/sharpness is great My compliments and TFS.
Alexei.

Isn't it fun to see what that lens does to clouds? The V in your foreground mirrors the V of the blue sky. It gives an intersting structure to the composition. You captured a great sense of space. I like reading your process. You did everything exactly as I've read that one is to do...but I don't....at least not yet.

Dag Neik,

this is a nice pleasant vista.
Lovely skyscape, the clouds look great. I bet this would convert well to B&W.

Hi Niek.
Nice to see other areas that have an abundance of flora and fauna. Great wide angle on the clouds spreading out past you, has a draw in effect on the eye to the landscape. Composition, lighting and detail, all spot on.
Wonderful

Hi Neik ,

great wide open view, with more and more detail revealing itself the more you look. Nice subtle light and good use of that tree, great sharpness throughout. Perhaps a little more contrast would've made the sky a tad more dramatic, but it's just as nice the way it is.

Hallo Niek,

Klasse. Groeten Bob

Hi Niek.
Been away for a few days. Havn't caught up on what everyone's doing yet. This is nice. Great dramatic sky. Nice wide POV. Very beautiful. Well done.
Best regards, Steve.
