I adore this butterfly with his transparent wings. The Focus and the light are excellent. The colors are very beautiful. Good management of the DOF. On the other hand I consider it regrettable that the butterfly is in the medium of the image. Thank you for this post.

This is a spectacular shot of the Glasswing Butterfly(Greta Oto). You have done a great job of rendering the transparent wings with super sharp details and perfect light. I like the way you caught the shimmering light in the creases of the wings.
Also a beautiful and clean background to shhow off your well-posed subject.

Fantastische macro van deze vlinder. Onwaarschijnlijk mooi licht wat de doorschijnende vleugels nog beter uit doet komen. Perfecte scherpte en diepte in de foto. Ik zou een stukje van de linkerzijde hebben afgehaald om de compositie iets te verbeteren. Maar toch.... Prachtig.

Hello Gert,
There are several species of this Ithomiine genus roaming the forests of South and Central America. They fly near the ground in shady forest areas and are almost impossible to see. You just get a faint impression of movement from the white wing-tip patches and it takes a lot of patience to catch one up close like this. Your composition is exellent and the butterfly is very sharp and all in focus. As before, there remains a little background noise, but this can be dealt with using Neat Image. I'll see what can be done and post a workshop tomorrow. Very well done.
