[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I revisted the new nature area again. This time I started at a different point but in the end returned to same location.

The weather was completely different from the week before. There were no clouds, and the temperature felt like spring. I found it too boring for photography and wished the clouds and sleet would return.

I waited for the sun to set behind the tree lines, leaving me with a single tree standing in the middle of the water. When the sun finally set, the few clouds didn't gave me the spectacle I was hoping for. So beeing bored I turned around and saw the faint glow along the horizon. The single tree and the flat surface completed the view and needed to be captured by me.

Very nice foto, but too much sky, that is my opinion.

Hi Niek,
so often i have had the same experience, a promising sunset of great colour and luminosity turns into nothing special after all! However, i don't think this is nothing special!
The pale pink has a subtle but almost dreamy quality to it and the clarity throughout only emphasises this. Composition is as always very good indeed. I think the amount of sky is fine personally.

Hi Niek

Sometimes we don't get the scene we imagine but end up with something wonderful anywat. This image has a lovely feeling of space and peace. The glow in the sky and the reflection is lovely

Hi Niek!

The sky is wonderful just like the wet land, the trees are positioned very well, just like the horizon. On my opinion... Sunset looks best when the blue part can be seen too, so the gradiation all the way. The slight strokes make the sky far enough interesting to take this amount of space. TFS!

Best regards,
Andor

Hello Niek! Wonderful lonely tree. Amazing mirror. Beautiful landscape. Original colors. Fantastic caomposition. Good luck!

Hi Niek

That's human nature: when you have black, you always wish for white and when you finally have the white, you would like at least a little black in it :))
Yet, i see you've managed superbly in these conditions!
The wide angle view here is very beautiful and the composition with the single tree and it's reflection in the water is superb!
The very thin threads of clouds in the sky are terrific and they really do make a huge difference between this and a completely cloud-less sky. They also add a bit of color and contrast which is just beautiful!
I see that the fine transition of color from the sky is nicely reflected in the water, too, especially with that lovely patch of color in the right lower corner.
There's one more thing that i like here: the lines in the field that remind the fact that this was once an agricultural place that is now back in nature's hands - lines that lead the eye and give an excellent sense of perspective and depth to the scene.
So, overall a gorgeous shot!
But i can't help wondering if you also took a zoomed shot of the tree from this location :)

Cheers and TFS
Horia

Hallo Niek,

Hello Niek,
The pale winter sky is very attractive!
In the right time of season this seems to be a paradise for migratory birds, and soon they will come back on the way to the North...
A couple of naked trees add attraction value to the composition!
Greetings,
Pablo -

Hi Niek

Just like the Fens where I live - BIG, BIG sky! Well composed and captured.

James

Hi Niek,

I really like this - I like the sense of openness and big sky, and the composition works for me.... I must get myself one of those 10-20s, they look great fun!!

Thanks for sharing, lovely work as ever.

Doug

Hello my friend Niek,
As a landscape photographer, we will always meet the unforseen circumstance that will not meet our need! I do see your point of view here!
The composition is fine with me with the vastnass of sky because the subject is on the sunset just to brings out as much as colouration of the sky and also the reflection on the water!
You had shared with us a wonderful image
best regards
Tony

Hi Niek,
Many thanks for the feedback, mate this is superb what a shot excellent d.o.f, the colours are amazing, perfect sky and excellent use of the rule of 3rds, love the POV and the tree looks perfect with the reflection, really nice work all the best Cheers Rick :)

Howdy,

I smiled at Joska's comment. We all know that there is no such thing as "too much sky" for the SunToucher! : ) It is a lovely image Niek... with a favorite lens that I still have to master. I've taken some nice shots with it but have trouble picking out scenes to shoot with it. Did you intentionally want a vignetted effect? I haven't made up my mind about it.

TFS
Evelynn : )

Hi Niek,
Wide open. Tranquil. A peaceful mood..
Nature and the elements don't frequently combine to produce the "spectacle" we might hope for.
But sometimes what we end up with is exactly what we need to see :)

Hi Niek.
I like this pleasant, taken with good taste scene. So refined art work with delicate colour passages, blameless composition and choice of POV, wide DOF and perfect details. My greetings and best regards.
Alexei.

Great result! Here the light is a marvel and you got so much simplicity with this mimimalism, excellent, as usual Niek.

Hi Niek,
Hope all is well with you. I think your wait paid off, you've captured some good mood in this image. I probably would have kept walking and it would have been my loss. Beautiful pastel colours and soft light, composition is good with the tree well placed in the frame. I've never been to this place but I get a feel for what it is like through this image.
Best regards,
Adrian
