Latin name - Corydalis cava

Today another rare and an flower that stand on the Red list of the Netherlands and so protectected by federal law.
Red list are very rare or almost on the point of die out.
I hope you like stis one.

Latin name - Corydalis cava

This appears as a purple cluster on top of a tall reddish stalk. A member of the poppy family, the Corydalis is similar to the Fumitory.

Flowers. Mar-May.

Size. 15-30 cm (short)

Flower Blossom. 20-40mm. The flower is a purple tube, about 40 mm long, balanced from the center. The inside is white, with some orange spots.

Leaves. Narrow and deeply lobed.

Habitat. Leafy forests, damp forests and river banks, vineyards.

Hi Gert. You know your native plants very well. I see that this was taken in 2006 lets hope as time goes by you start to see more coming back. Your close up shows the shape and colour of the flower so well. The detaail is just a little soft. Thanks for the interesting notes. TFS.

A fine portrait of a good specimen C. cava taken three years ago taken with good detail and lighting against a suitable BG.

I love seeing all these flowers I would never see otherwise. This is beautiful - I would have guessed it was a member of the orchid family, not poppy. Lovely colors, details and composition.

Hallo Gert,
Was gisteren even door de punten heen, dus gewacht tot vandaag want deze foto verdient ze zeker. Bijzonder dat je steeds deze aparte bloemen vindt. Ben benieuwd of je hem sindsdien nog een keer hebt gezien.
De focus is wat zacht, maar de kleuren zijn verder schitterend tegen een mooi contrasterende achtergrond. Vanuit een uitstekend standpunt genomen.
