Latin name - Tricholomopsis rutilans

A few days ago I have been posted an picture from this fungi, this s another one from this beautiful coloured fungi.
Plums and Custard. This fungus sounds delicious, but unfortunately is bitter and tough and completely inedible. It gets its name from the lovely colouration of the fruiting bodies. The caps are dark pink, purple or nearly scarlet, whilst the gills and stipe are a golden yellow. It is a medium-sized fungus, caps 6.34cm, stipe 4-10cm. Growth is restricted to dead conifer stumps or roots, usually several specimens together. It is fairly common, some years being better than others, as is the case with many fungi.

Hi Gert,

What a delicious sounding name. The colors on this one are wonderful. Excellent details of both the caps and "fruit." The fungus blends with the background setting perfectly. Thank you for another lesson!

Jane

Hello Gert,
You are a talented Fungi photographer, as shown by this excellent portrait of a 'Plumbs and Custard' fungus taken from a fine low POV with excellent sharpness and lighting to show the features of this species.
Well done and thanks for sharing this fine image,
Regards,
Ivan

As I think about it, plums and mustard would be a distasteful combination, hence perhaps the name. Very interesting fungi...another area in which I am devoid of information but always welcome to learning new things through images clearly taken and good notations.
Bob

Great POV this time... detail, color also very well done. TFS

Hello Gert,

Very nice picture of this fungus. Good composition. Excellent sharpness. Very nice colours. Did you try to post all your collection of fungi and flowers picture to the site www.nederlandsesoorten.nl? I think that could be very useful.
Cheers,
Mariki

Bonito conjunto.
Un saludo: Josep Ignasi Tejedor.

Hi Gert,

An interesting image and note. I photographed it once in the forest near my home, which is strictly deciduous woodlands, so the only thing I can think of is perhaps someone discarded a Christmas tree in the woods providing this species with the coniferous wood that it requires.

Thanks,
John
