[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This common blue damselfly (Enallagma cyathigerum) got trapped by long leaved sundew. His future doesn't look very promising as they rarely manage to loosen themselves. They are attracted by the sweet tasting 'dew' on the carnivorous plant. However most of the time smal insects like flies and mosquitos are caught, also larger ones like this damselfly is not safe.

bonjour jacob

Ricardo

Excellent double presentation Jacob with an unfortunate end for the damselfly.
Great capture with appropriate focus, sharpness and colors, due to the appropriate illumination and out of focus of the bottom of the scene.
The detail of the "mortal" drops so brilliant is wonderful.
Very interesting second image that you offer us in the workshop.
A cordial greeting from Buenos Aires... Ricardo

Hello Jacob,
"a nice capture" and impressive nature document. Very good focus on the damselfly and depth of field. However, the alternating in and out of focus of the Drosera plant is a little disturbing. Perhaps it looks better leaving out the left in focus-plant. I tried a workshop and would like to know your opinion.
Best wishes, Peter

Hola Jacob.- Una foto muy interesante, justo en el momento en que vive esta bella Libelula. Creo esta en graves problemas. Tu foto es muy nitida y con hermosos colores tanto del insecto como de las plantas. Luis52.

Hello Jacob,
Even though the DOF is limited you have worked on this to produce a fine and interesting shot. How many of us have ever seen a damselfly trapped by Drosera intermedia? Unfortunately I haven't, so I thank you for posting this one.
Best wishes, Ivan

Hi Jacob

What an amazing capture!
I've heared and even seen some picture of the sundew catching small flies...but never damselflies...wow!
This is an excellent nature-lesson!
I really like all the details here - both on the sundew and the damsel, the colors and the lighting.
Very well done, my friend!

Cheers and TFS

Hello Jacob,
It's the first time I see a damselfly caught by the Sundew. Normally you see flies and other little insects being trapped. Excellent and very interesting shot, sharp details and lovely colours!
Many thanks, Ulla

Hello Jacob

It is not a safe world out there.Excellent low POV and good DOF.The shot is well focused and the tiny dew drops really show well.Good colour saturation too,the red and the blue really look good together.TFS

Hello Jacob,
This is a very interesting photo, also from the biological point of view! :) It clearly shows that none predator is safe, and in addition here we can see that not every "predator" is aminal species (here Drossera sp.) :)
I really like this photo.
Best regards,
Radomir
