Agonopterix heracliana
(Fabricius, 1777)
Wingspan 21 mm.

A common species throughout Belgium. Can be separated from A. ciliella by its smaller size and the presence of only 1 faint grey line in the hindwing cilia.

The larva lives between spun leaves of a great variety of Umbellifera, like Heracleum sphondylium, Anthriscus sylvestris, Angelica sylvestris, Aegododium podagraria etc. Pupation in a silken cocoon in the earth, or amongst leaf-litter.

The adults fly from September till April. They hibernate as an adult. They come to light and especially to sugar
