Ligdia adustata / Scorched Carpet / Pfaffenhütchen-Harlekin / Aangebrande spanner / La Phalène du fusain.
Both the English and Latin names refer to the 'scorched' appearance of this species, though this is more obvious on the underside, which is suffused with reddish-brown.
The larva lives on Spinle (Euonymus europaeus). Hibernates as pupa.
The adults fly in two generations a year: from mid April till late June and again from mid July till early September. They are active from dusk onwards and later come to light.
