On the beach of the river "de waal" I met this guy: it's a larve of Gomphus flavipes that comes crawling out of the river after a few years living as a larve in the river to fulfill the metamorphosis to an adult imago of Gomphus flavipes-Yellow-legged Dragonfly.

Hi Harm.
Now that is one ugly larve. Great detail shown to go with your notes. Well done.
Hard to believe that this is going to be a dragonfly in this state a.
I wonder if a slight bit of contrast might bring out the form of it a bit more, but then after two years living in the river I would feel a bit washed out too.
