This Black-tailed skimmer is eating a damselfly. When you look good, you can see the tail coming out of the mouth.

The Black-lined Skimmer, Orthetrum cancellatum, is a European dragonfly.

The male has a blue abdomen with a black tip and transparent wings, and the female has a yellowish brown body with black zigzag marks along the abdomen and the transparent wings. This species has expanded its range, assisted by the creation of gravel pits which give it the extensive open unvegetated areas it prefers.

Hello Hans,
this is a really finr close-up picture with very good sharpness
and DOF, the whole dragon-fly is in good focus and it stand out well from the BG
Maybe the composition is a bit centred but thats are a minor.
Well done.
