I visited in June this area of natural beauty, called Aekingerzand. You can find it in the NW part of Drenthe with the border of Friesland. The photo is handheld and made from an observation tower. The visibility was perfect. Airpressure was high. Only windy conditions. Resized the photo at TN format. Brightness and contrast -1 and +3.

The Aekingerzand, or the Bald Dunes is part of the National Park Drents Frisian Wold. It is one of the largest contiguous areas of the Netherlands. 6150 hectares of forest and moorland right on the border of Friesland and Drenthe.)

The Aekingerzand, or the Bald Dunes, is a very special nature. Here, weather and wind a free game. The area is State in a few years completely restored. Hi Bob. Firstly thanks for the interesting notes to go with the landscape picture. You have capture a good view from the tower showing a large area . good natural colours in the trees and sky. I like the soft white clouds . I see there is a lake in the top lefr corner. TFS.

Hello Bob,
This is a beautiful landscape that in fact looks very much like part of our coastline here. The restoration sounds encouraging according to your note. Very nice colours and a lovely sky too.

Well where have you been? There are so few landscapers on TN these days and Niek is away. I was also away for a few months.
This looks so much like my image of the Netherlands... great sky with wonderful clouds and the flat landscape. The colors and subject are nice as are the exposure and color saturation. The composition feels a little random to me... kind of more like a snapshot than a planned composition. I keep wanting to zoom in closer and get more of the one really nice cloud and move the horizon line out of the center of the frame. I kind of want to shift the point of view to the right to avoid the half cloud and half pond on the left.
It is great that more places are being restored.

This is truly a vast area of forest and moorland with on end from the image!
Excellent sharpness with good focal point to the far horizon in great depth! the cotton clouds formation adds a lot of interest towards this beautiful landscape!

Hi Bob, great to see another post from you. Once again i can clearly see the similarties between you country and mine. A lovely feeling of wide open space here, with the dark treeline making the horizon quite eye cathing. Very nice natural colours too, well done!

Hoi Bob,
Nu zie ik ook de reden waarom je er toch geen panorama van hebt gemaakt. Het verschil in de positie van de horizon is te groot. Wel geeft deze foto weer een erg mooi beeld op dit stukje natuur in Nederland. Ben je toevallig ook nog bij de beek geweest die men een aantal jaren geleden weer terug heeft gebracht naar natuurlijke staat?
De mooie warme kleuren geven mooi contrast met het Hollandse blauw van de lucht.
