[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Yesterday, at the end of the afternoon, I was talking in my garden when suddenly this dragonfly appeared and sat down on the top of this branch of a Dahlia plant. It stayed there for over 15 minutes, every now and then making a small flght of a few meters. I ran for my camera and started making shots. At some point I started using flash but even that did not scare the animal away. I was able to take shots from a lot of different angles. I will show a few of them to you.

I hope someone can identify this one.

Due to the exposure settings the shot is somewhat underexposed. This was corrected when I imported the raw file.
Postprocessing was a little of the usual, levels, USM and some crop.

Vey good Macro work here and the strange lighting works for me! The DOF and colors are good too. Excellent post.

Very nice Jan, good clear image the flash lights it well. I would agree with Paul about the Ident.
The wing ends you could paint over with burntool to darken the ends that are dropping out of focus, which would make them look more in focus.

Very nice capture Jan. The pose presents the critter well in the frame. The details and colours are very sharp. Great work.

good capture of this darter. It seems like she is on her way to lift of right at this moment. The dof includes almost the whole darter. Thats nice.

Great macro Jan
Very sharp with good details and nice color.
Good DOF.
Well done

Yes, very good shot. I especially like the DOF and the wings.

Jan
Great exposure, and POV, like the dark, light, dark bands in the BG, make him stand out!

What an irony that this would be taken at a place called "Best", as I think it is one of your best ... It looks amazing, Jan, as if you had invited the dragonfly into the studio for a photo shoot. Crisp detail and colors all over the little beast, and I really like the elementary composition of it just holding on to the top of the dahlia. DOF is very good also. Well done, congratulations.

Jan, congratulations on your note, which is detailed and well written. And, of course, congratulations on your picture. You and the dragonfly were in tune: he had the patience and you had the talent.

As the fellows above have already written: great point of view, depth of field, sharpness and composition.
