Hello Annick,
Excellent close-up of this Pheasant. I can't see his blue ears but even so the colours and details are beautiful! Nice composition in profile.
TFS and best wishes, Ulla

Cool :)
I like most the composition and POV Annick. The sharp detail, color, light, and effective DOF really do this looker justice :)
Very well done.

Hi Annick,
Another great closeup showing very good detail and colors. As for your comment I will only repeat an old Sioux Indian Prayer " Great Spirit, help me never judge another until I have walked in his moccasins." Thanks for sharing.

Hi Annick
What a wonderful portrait. I love all the details, the colours and contrast are wonderful and the framing perfect. There are pros and cons on wild and captive photography but a good photograph is always a good photograph

i love the way you have caught the plumage each side of the head, it looks like a couple of ears. tou have caught some nice detail and colour and the eye contact is great.

Hello Annick!
So, this is place where all discussion about zoo started :-) Beautifull photo - I love pose with turned head, colours, DOF with blurred BG. Also frame is very good.
I live in Lodz, Poland. We've got zoo in our city. I want to photograph lions or pantheras. Trip to Africa is one of my dreams. But I haven't enough money and time now. So I go to zoo. Simply. Zoo gives me chance to see and to photograph animals which I can see only on Animal Planet in TV. If I take good shot of animal in zoo, I'm proud of it and I want to share it with my friends on TN. It's obvious.

Wow, Annick... What an amazing-looking pheasant.
A new species for me, so thank for the introduction.
Excellent exposure and DOF showing off very sharp details.
Congratulations and TFS. : )
Hi Annick
Comparing shooting in the wild and shooting in captivity will always be a debate. In the end, it's all a matter of the photographers taste.
In my case, for example, i like the take photos of reptiles, amphibians and dragon/damselflies a lot...but since the conditions in the Zoo from my town are horrible, i only go in the wild for these shots :) It is very likely that if i had some here in the zoo, i would check it fom time to time and take some shots :)
Anyway, Annick, you shouldn't feel bothered at all of those who question your work. You've built up one of the most beautiful portofolios on TN and we love your shots!
This one here is another great example why! The pose of this Blue Eared Pheasant is amazing and all the technical elements of the picture are right as they should be :)
Cheers and Happy 2007
Horia
Hello Annick,
I can't say that I agree with your statement about pictures in the wild and in captivity but it doesn't really matter :-) This is a very good capture of this bird. Like I said previously about a similar post of yours, this guy seems to be ready for a masked Bal :-) You caught excellent details in a very good POV and composition. Nice color saturation and wonderful BG. Congratulations!

Hi Annick.
I welcome your note. From childhood I know, that boys often pull girl's plaits if they liked them. May be that is the point.
Your shot is very cute. Nice colours and perfect details, interesting POV and perfect lighting. The pose of this charming bird is very impressive. My compliments and TFS.
Alexei.
