I saw this fly in our garden the other day, but it was in a hurry and did not allow me to take its pictures, Marie.
In fact, your very brilliant image of it reminded me of what I had actually seen without knowing what it was. That way, you have supplied the ID for my non-existing image :-).
Very crisp and colourful capture. The transparent wings look great in the sunshine.

Picture is not very sharp but - and bravo for this!!! - presents a very interesting fly species! I have to say that I saw it in the wild only 2 times (both last week!) but it is not easy to find it in nature (at least for me :>). Original picture with colourful insect :)
