The Tiger

By William Blake

1757-1827

TIGER, tiger, burning bright
In the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?

In what distant deeps or skies
Burnt the fire of thine eyes?
On what wings dare he aspire?
What the hand dare seize the fire?

And what shoulder and what art
Could twist the sinews of thy heart?
And when thy heart began to beat,
What dread hand and what dread feet?

What the hammer? what the chain?
In what furnace was thy brain?
What the anvil? What dread grasp
Dare its deadly terrors clasp?

When the stars threw down their spears,
And water'd heaven with their tears,
Did He smile His work to see?
Did He who made the lamb make thee?

Tiger, tiger, burning bright
In the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Dare frame thy fearful symmetry?

This Amur tiger isn't captured in the forests of the night. It's burning bright in the Beekse Bergen.

Hallo Annick,
Fantastisch weekend,
Peter

Hi Annick,
this face is so beautiful, look at these teeth, and he is full of power.
I love cats - the big and the small ones ;-)
Thanks and greetings

Merhaba Annick,
Renkleri, desenlri ve diğer ayrıntıları çok başarılı bir kare. Güzel olduğu kadar ürkütücü bir hayvan. Emeğine sağlık.

Wowww... this is a great timely capture Annick. Colours and posture of the tiger [this name came after the river of "Tigris" (in Turk. Dicle river) indeed] are great my friend!
Have a nice weekend!
Cheers,

Bayram

Love the prose...and love the natural friendly looking grass, but you have captured something on it's face...I have no word..but I know for sure I don't want to go and pet it right now...

Hi Annick.
Nice poem and so attractive picture of a fine tiger. It is really not Amur taiga. However, splendid tiger is looked on a green meadow perfectly. I like superb details of the animal and very pleasant bokeh. MY best wishes and TFS.

Hi Annick,
this is a well detailed photo of the big cat who must be getting on in years from the looks of things. The teeth are not so white anymore and that left hand side lower incisor looks like it could be a problem broken off as it is.If that tooth is causing any pain it would explain the look the cat has on it's face,he or she doesn't look so happy. The colour this photo has looks very accurate and the pose is classic tiger. Thanks for sharing the tiger, who is the symbol of the Chinese year I was born in.Tigers are my favorite big cats and all are different and individual.

Hello Annick,

This is a very fine portret of the tiger. Image is so sharp that astonishing details can be easily seen. Color of the fur is well rendered, many color tones being visible.

Thank you for sharing,
Cristian

Hi Annick,

your shot is just perfect. In my mind tiger is the king of animals not lions :)
Looks so much more elegant... TFS!

Hello Annick,
What a beautiful animal and your capture shows all the beauty plus the fact that it needs a tooth capped. I sure wouldn't want to try capping it. The fur and whiskers are very nicely detailed and the colors are bright and natural. thank you Annick.
