[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Coastal sand dunes have a special place in nature, not just in the Netherlands but also on a world-wide level. They are among the rarest of habitats, because the conditions for their formation are seldom met: a combination of wind, fine sand, space, and, most of all, time. Once damaged or destroyed by human activity, it is impossible to restore coastal dunes to their original state. These rare and extremely vulnerable habitats are still found in the Netherlands. The Zuid-Kennemerland National Park provides a beautiful example of such a coastal dune zone. The National Park consists of Duin en Kruidberg, de Kennemerduinen, de Duinen van Velsen, and various smaller estates and nature reserve areas. The entire park covers about 2500 hectares.

The landscape is very much influenced by the strong west winds, this lonely tree is perfectly showing the effect of it. This is a view just behind the first dunes close to the North-Sea.

belle vue tout en profondeur mais un peu desertique, cela n'enlève rien a cette bonne réussite, bien vu

Hi Ruud,
Very evocative landscape!
I like the way the tree is turned due to the wind forces, and their lonely appearance in the place.
You did a solid composition, with that particular light.
Your note were so informative and interesting to me.
Congratulations and thanks for share it.
My best regards,
JM

Hoi Ruud,

John.

Hi Ruud,
This shot seems to me specially interesting. It shows the nature forces, the tree leaning in the direction of the wind. The whole picture gives the impression of wind and silence. Great composition,I like a lot.
Best regards
Anne

Belle composition et magnifique prise de vue sur cet arbre.
Merci j'aime bien l'ambiance.

I do like the composition you chose for this shot. I am a little baffled by the light orange cast to the whole image. Did you use a filter or something? Sharpness and depth of focus look good.

Ruud, I really like the light in this picture. It is so typical of winter. the tree is great, but it is a shame that your frame clips the top branches, becuase I feel it just needed that little extra space atthe top. It looks like you have had a lot of rain there recently.

Hoi Rob,
Groeten,
Niek

Hello Ruud,
The lonely tree theme has always an attraction!
This naked landscape would not be the same without the tree...
Image is well composed, and the scenery conveys the feeling of loneliness very well!
Greetings,
Pablo -

Hello Ruud,
Very nice composition. Shape of this tree reflects its constant fight with the wind and give the shot a lot of dynamics. On the other side the colour of light creates thrilling atmosphere. The water surfaces creates the perspective.
Overall a very nice job!
Best greetings,
Michal

Hello Ruud,
Excellent composition that corroborates the note. I like the mood created by the overcast weather. Well done. Regards,

Hi Ruud,

Very nice image about this fragile environnement. Thanks to tell us about what is still living in our world.

Regards, Frank

Hi Ruud.
Really dramatic. I get the sense of cold. The water tells me there was a wind blowing. I can almost feel it. Great composition.
Regards, Steve.
