Fallow deers:
Dama dama
Were introduced in Europa, where they are now found in captivity and in the wild. Horns grow and fall every year. During the year the horns will grow longer, the skin on them will fall, and they will be fully ready for the rut in October. Females have no horns.

Technic:
Just zoom and shot in gust. No PP work. Size and quality decreased for publication on TN.

The shot:
I was skating. I saw him through a fence. I had to stop immediatly because I had this feeling: this would be my best picture ever. This because the light was so beautiful. Easy shot because he wouldn't mind to see people passing or even stopping. He was just laying there still. I could use the fence to stabilize my camera. He was busy ruminating and the jaw would be sometimes to the left or to the right, which was less nice. I took several tens of shots and in that amount I got several with the jaw right in the middle.

Hi JeanMarie,
I love shooting in light like this but it's so hard to get the exposure right. This I think is as good as it gets with good overall exposure. Nicely framed, he doesn't seem at all bothered by you. I like the POV, I think a lower POV would have worked well too.
Regards,
Adrian

Hallo JeanMarie,

Very good picture of a splendid deer! Excellent exposure for the given light! It's pretty hard to get a good exposure on both highlights and shadows, especially with no flash light as you did! But you did a great job! Congratulations! TFS!

Cheers,
Eddie

I like this shot. Amazing no PP. The light was just right. Agree, sometimes we overdo it in the photoshop. A good picture is best left to stand on it's own merits.
Cheers
Otto

I have a picture of a white fallow deer, from Point Reyes National Seashore north of San Francisco. I wonder if it is in some way related to the deer in your picture.

They look similar except for the color.
