Pantilius tunicatus, found on Birch bark

French name: Punaise du noisetier
Dutch name: ??
English name: ??

Quite common and widespread, this bug may be found on the lower branches of Hazel, Alder and particularly Birch.

The large size (antennae shorter than the body) and spectacular colouring make it almost unmistakeable. The extent of the ree markings is variable, and newly emerged adults can be entirely green. It is a late season species and usually does not appear until late August, September.

Adulte: September-October, may overwinter
Length: 8-10mm

I guess the olive colour works as a camouflage colour for this species, Marie.
You have captured it very well against some BG I can't figure out. Is that the birch bark?
The focus is sharp and the subtle shades of colours are well recorded in this image.
TFS and regards.

An expertly macro-capture of a beautiful heteropteran bug in good form Marie, you've succeeded to keep the whole bug within the DOF zone in spite of your oblique POV, not an easy accomplishment my friend. There seems to be a slight brownish tint over the whole picture, tried to remove it in my WS, hope you like it!
Cheers,
Mehmet

Hi Marie

Good capture of this green bug, but what is it on, not sure about the surface, it looks artifical.
Good sharpness and DOF.

Chris

Hi Marie,

Splendid macro shot of this heteropteran bug with excellent details, nice DOF/POV and composition.
TFS this my friend!
Cheers,

Bayram

Bonjour Marie-Christine,
Anne

Hi Mariki,

Very sharp image, and the exposure is right on the button.

Nice shot!

Hello Marie,
Excellent macro of this tiny bug showing very sharp details and fine colours. I think these bugs are so hard to identify as their colours and patterns change with age. Well done!
TFS and cheers, Ulla

Hello Mariki, excellent close up capture of this insect. Great details and sharpness.

Hallo Marie,

Mooie scherpe opname van deze insect.
Prachtige kleuren en detailering.
Zie dat je vaak het zelfde ondergrond gebruikt?
Vang je ze eerst?

Gert
