It is a good shot first of all and you did well, in post pro, maybe cloaning out a couple spots and riding of noise would help the overall composition. Anyway, it works for me. Plus this is well done for using a compact, you've got my vote. If it was a DSLR shot, I would really kick you in the... hahaha

Hey Pieter, excellent shot. My flying birds are blurs! You've caught him very well - he's even got snow on his feet. And it is good how you've managed to shoot him between the 2 hulls. Well done.

Nice capture Pieter. Lovely POV and one which we don't often see. The details are pretty good and I love the composition. There seems to be some noise on the ice and that is a little grey - maybe the WB got it a little worng, it's very difficult with snow and ice. Well done.

Great capture of this poor cold bird. Original composition. The posts in the foreground distract the eye but it's extremely difficult to control everything when a bird is in flight. Very well done.

Pieter, A nice captue on this stork. A good job for your first action shot. There does seem to be some noise, but the low light probably helped on that. Nice Job!

Very good bird in flight, good details, same guy as the one who caught my fish, or was it his cousin?
Get rid of the red in the BG, right, and the steel pegs in the FG middle, Clone them out with snow ot water, and then there is nothing to distract from your heron.

With your lack of new posts I have to come all the way back here to find an un-critiqued photo! :)
This is an excellent first-flying-post and if it were mine, I'd be very pleased with it. (well, back then, anyway.) Now, I can pick fault with it a lot more, for example it would be better without the boats and the post, just a plain background. There's a very small halo around the heron due to sharpening. But, considering this was with your old camera and it was your first, it deserves 2 points.
