Hi Laurens.
Yu have pictured this amazing natural composition simply perfectly. I like impressive set of various and very nice objects: fungi with their amazing shapes, dry leaves on the ground, first flowers and fresh leaves. DO is selected excellently and all image is detailed perfectly. Well done and TFS.

Hello Lou,
Erg apart, nog nooit gezien. Goede scherpte en compositie. De vergelijking met de bloem van de hondsdraf geeft een goed beeld van de grootte. Allerlei mooie natuurlijke kleuren.
Groet,
Peter

Hello Laurens !
This is wonderful ! The mushroom is very beautiful, and it's nice to see that you didn't "clean" before taking the picture, because the forest vegetation around the Morchella is wonderful - dead leaves, young and tender sprout, beautiful purple flower... Wonderful sharpness and details, fantastic textures on the mushroom's hat. Gorgeous natural colors. Very well done !
Valérie.

Hello Lou,
What a great find, and a perfect shot of this Morel.
We don't have any of this type of fungi in New Zealand so it is always good to see them here on TN.
Excellent exposure and composition.
Very well done.
Cheers & TFS

Hello Lou,
Very natural picture showing this interesting fungi. I like the special shape, which you caught here very well. Nice to show it in between other flowers and leaves. Excellent sharpness and light.I love eating it, it's defintively my favourite in the kitchen..
Have a nice afternoon
Anne

Greetings Lou,

Fabolous capture, but the name's wrong. This isn't Morchella vulgaris (Pers.) Boud., 1897, but Morchella esculenta (L.) Pers., 1801. Many people, even some mycologists use this name in wrong form and think M. vulgaris = M. esculenta, but it isn't true. M. vulgaris is momentarily the valid name of a specie known previously as Morchella conica Pers. (1818). Yes, it's a bit triviastic (as sometimes the whole taxonomy of fungi), and I'm sure even the author, Christiaan Hendrik Persoon doesn't understand it in the shadow-world. :)

But M. vulgaris / conica has much more regular textures on the apothecium (being an ascomycota, we can't use the word "cap"), different from what we see on Your photo. This is M. esculenta, which is a very varying specie in color, size and textures, but easily recognizable due to the "cap" texture and the "stem" base (very typical on Your photo, M. conica / vulgaris has different one).

Photographically a very suggestive pic. Very closed to be excellent. The reason of using this "very closed" is the small branches and the greenery in front of the fungus should have been removed, they're disturbing compositional elements here. Which means this pic deserves 9 out of 10 on my personal ranking.

Tfs, best wishes from Hungary, László
