In my series of special ducks this time the Chestnut Teal. This photo is taken in a bird park.

The Chestnut Teal (Anas castanea) is a dabbling duck found in southern Australia.

The male has a distinctive green coloured head and mottled brown body. The female has a brown head and mottled brown body. The female is almost identical in appearance to the Grey Teal. It is protected under the National Parks and Wildlife Act, 1974.

The Chestnut Teal prefers coastal estuaries and wetlands, and is indifferent to salinity. This bird is an omnivore. They build down-lines nests in tree stumps or, sometimes, on the ground. Both parents incubate the eggs.

Hello Peter,
I last saw a Chestnut teal in Australia and have posted an image of it on TN.
This is a fine close capture taken from a fine POV. Though the limited lighting has limited the sharpness a little, th POV, colours and composition are great. A higher ISO would have been better, but one is wise after the event!
Thanks and have a good weekend,
Ivan

There is almost a fall-like quality to this one....it appears as it doesn't like extremes in temperatures. I wonder. IO have heard and seen but if they are temperate sensitive then they may not be so common as time goes by!
Bob

Hello Peter,
another beautiful picture of your duck series, splendid bright colours, the sharpness is a bit soft, not easy to use t 1/160 with 190 focal length, very nice composition with wonderful reflections.
TFS
Best regards
Maurizio

Hi Peter. You are finding so different ducks for us to see. This time the Chestnut Teal . Which you have taken with sharp focusing and fine detail. Its bright red eye stands out from the green featehrs. You can see where it gets its name from. Well done TFS.

Hi Peter,
nice colour and nice ripples produced to give a good graphical effect. I like the pattern of the feathers so smooth and in great details. The texture is so adorable.
