Hi Pieter, that bird may well be singing one of U2 songs then again maybe he's yawning because I'm one of the few in Ireland who don't like the sound of that band, then again Iv never seen or heard them live ;) As for your post, well its stunning. The colour of this bird is a knockout, detail is equally impressive. You captured a great pose also. Very nice work.

Hahaha, Pieter. You are so funny! I don't know how you manage to capture the funniest poses of your subjects. This one is brilliant, with the beak wide open and the cheek all puffed up. I would rather think that he is belting out some aria by Andrea Bocelli. In any case, the shot is perfect in all respects. Congratulations and TFS. : )

Pieter, I'm a U2 fan too. I do enjoy the old ones, although I like some of the new ones too.

Great shot with excellent colors and contrast. The eye of the bird seems a little strange to me.

I also like composition and sharpness.

Great catch with great story! Picture is superb, full of action and colours. Talking about U2 - I also love this band, especially older songs from "The Joshua Tree". They're in Poland not long ago and Polish fans made great show for theirs idols - during "New Year's Day" all people on stadium rose their hands with red or white pieces of paper and created huge Polish flag. I am a U2 fan as well, but like Greg, i like the older stuff.. this is gorgeous !! i got my camera back last week, so i will soon be posting again :D cant wait. this is a stunning pic.. love the colours. what is with his eye ?? it has a strange white thing/colour ?

Now here is my 15 seconds of fame.... My work colleague is from England and her Uncle is the Spiritual Advisor for U2. She and her husband have just returned from a month back home and were taken to the U2 concert and got the real good treatment.. Howz That!

Hello Pieter, Very striking colors with great impact. I think I like this take better then "Fur Elize" with the wide open beak adding more interest..Very good sharpness & details, Great capture!

Hello Pieter, the colour of the ibis is amazing as is the sharpness of the image, not so sure about the blurred green leaves of the forground, there is a possible crop to the left of the vertical leaves and above the horizontal ones to leave us with the birds head and shoulders , I am sure the image is good enough to with-stand being seen at an enlarged size.

Excellent! I love the way you've framed him with the foliage. Beautiful colours and excellent detail. I'm guessing this was taken through wire as there is a kind of criss-cross pattern in the background. A minor nit though, this is a beautiful shot.

LOL, I didn't know a scarlet ibis could sing U2! This is an amazing photo although the bird looks strange with that second lid down, it almost looks blind. My cats do that sometimes and freak me out!
