The house fly,

Musca domestica L. is a well-known cosmopolitan pest of both farm and home. This species is always found in association with humans or activities of humans. This is the most common species found on hog and poultry farms, horse stables, and ranches. Not only are they a nuisance, but they also can transport disease-causing organisms. Excessive fly populations are obnoxious to farm workers, and when there are nearby human habitations a public health problem is possible.

More than 100 pathogens associated with the house fly may cause disease in humans and animals, including typhoid, cholera, bacillary dysentery, tuberculosis, anthrax ophthalmia and infantile diarrhea, as well as parasitic worms. Pathogenic organisms are picked up by flies from garbage, sewage and other sources of filth, and then transferred on their mouthparts and other body parts, through their vomitus, feces and contaminated external body parts to human and animal food.

Hi Mike,
A unique macro shot that works really well. Eye popping yellow color really grabs your attention. Then you see this head on shot of the fly that is very sharp. Great control on the DOF that has a nice fall off.
Excellent notes complete this outstanding shot.

Excellent work Mike. Very well composed and a very good POV in this head shot. Very good sharpness, detail and DOF. The yellow petals make the fly stand out and contrasts nicely while adding good interest. I did a workshop just to see what it would look like turned-down a notch.

Very nice macro Chris! Housefly isn't maybe beautifull ;-) but with this yellow flower BG it looks great. Detailed, sharp, with good note. I like it.

absolutely spot on macro and tube technique..your details read f10 which i take was required for the flash distance...
i know my macro does f32...but then you get power problems with too much flash source.
its a wonderful shot with a fully documented note

Great shot that gets attention, the colour makes the subject pop out of the pic almost. Maybe slightly less exposure for the yellows, yellow petals often fool the automatic.
