Hello Rick, welcome to TN with a fine underwater shot. Wonderful to see the developing embryo in the Mermaid bag.

Not one of the macro studies we are used to see in TN Rik, a perfectly exposed shark egg capsule in sharp focus, revealing the details of the developing embryo nicely. Welcome to TN my friend, and TFS this original image.

Hi Rik,
A nice capture of this beautiful shark's egg. Very well composed with good details. Only nit is you should add some notes about this shark and how you captured. Thanks a lot for sharing.

Rik-
Welcome to TN. Seeing this superb and enlightening image was a jolt to me. I have occasionally found such egg cases washed up on the shore and have known what they were, but have never seen them in other than their desiccated and opaque form. You have filled in a large hole in my understanding of this corner of the natural world. The image is beautiful by itself, but what it reveals about the subject is what makes it special.
A note with some description would be very helpful and much appreciated by viewers of this exceptional shot. For example, was it in an aquarium? How did you get this view? Camera and other relevant details? Size of the subject (the shark egg cases I recall from my youth were all about 50-60 cm for the body)? What is the nearly horizontal straight line that the egg case is attached to? Species (this asking a lot, but might be available in an aquarium setting)?
Editing a note after posting is simple. I would love to see answers to any or all of the questions posed above.
Thanks for sharing this wonderful picture.
Bob
