| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
The Common Tern (Sterna hirundo) is a seabird of the tern family Sternidae. This bird has a circumpolar distribution breeding in temperate and sub-Arctic regions of Europe, Asia and east and central North America. It is strongly migratory, wintering in the subtropical and tropical oceans. It is sometimes known as the sea swallow.
Like all Sterna terns, the Common Tern feeds by plunge-diving for fish, from either the sea or freshwater lakes and large rivers. It usually dives directly, and not from the "stepped-hover" favoured by Arctic Tern.
Taken from the car on a very sunny day and dedicated to Thijs to thank him for a nice trip. |

Hi Paula,
Nice shot of the tern looking under his wing. As the common and the artic tern are some times hard to keep separated, I believe when british birdwatchers name them Comic Terns when they are unsure ;)

Ha Paula,
Wat een BEAUTY,
Prima focus op het oog en dat vanuit een (langzaam) rijdende auto.
Perfect POV,BG and light
TFS Thijs
Wonderful shot Paula and I love the aspect ratio here and its ideal for such kind of shots. The diagonal position of the wings and that catch light is special.
Convey my regards to Rene , Thijs and Rob :-)

Hi Paula.
Wonderful picture of a beautiful bird. You managed to freeze it at amazing pose. I like great DOF, details and colours of the image as well as its composition and cropping. Some blurriness of the wing tip is a result of lens work I suppose. Best regards and TFS.
Alexei.
