Rapidly a blue fire arrow flashes along water just as further on an open bank to rests to come. Blue small sticks shave with his hundreds area concerning water and are hardly follow between the glittering of the sun in water. Large blue helicopters insects, inspect the water side, but remain exact three meters from the bank, a safe fork against photographers with them cameras.

In the Netherlands live 70 types of dragonflies. The order dragon flies is generally divided in two ranges dragonflies (Zygoptera) and real dragonflies, or glaziers (Anisoptera) this is by far most important. The name glazier descends from the time that people, who had replace broken squares in former days; the pieces transported glass on a frame of slattern, so that it was then carried with on the back. This frame stuck out on side, as two terrible wings.

I hope I found the righ identity.

This is the flat belly libellula depressa it a female.
The larvae lives approximately two years in the mud.
They are about 65-75 mm long.
It lives about 2 year as a larvae
The male, are is in reality light blue.
The female have still that splendid yellow spot on the untherbody.

They live by well-vegetated still water including garden and farm ponds. Adults fly from mid May to early August. The larvae can survive long in mud, if no more water stands there in the ponds. When we see thee first chasers we know that the summer is coming.

Hi Jaap,
A good closeup....not easy to work with a x2 teleconverter and you have got good clarity and DOF.The flash has fully captured the insect removing unwelcome shadows but it does seem a touch harsh on its eye, back and wing therefore a bit distracting.Maybe also a touch over sharpened.A good experiment and combination but maybe next time reduce the light a notch.A learning experience for me as I also have the Tamron 90.Take care and TFS.
Regards, David

Hallo Jaap,
Hele mooie weergave. Zeer mooie compositie en hoek. Mooie scherpte over de gehele libelle met veel details.
Dat deze foto genomen is met 800 iso is alleen zichtbaar in de achtergrond.
Prachtig van kleur.

Hi Jaap and very nice to see you back and posting!
It's been quite some time, my friend!

I'm glad you carried on with your experiments!
The 90 mm lens seems to be working super fine with the 2x teleconverter and the result is an amazing macro shot! I am a bit surprised you used ISO 800, but i must say that the noise level is really fantastic...really not visible :)

The diagonal composition you managed here is impressive and the details your caught on this beautiful dragonfly are terrific.
Also, the colors are charming and well saturated and the DOF is exceptional.

Bravo and TFS
Horia

bonjour jaap

You have uploaded a new picture after a long gap, Jaap.
It is a great picture and I have studied your experimentation given in the last paragraph of your note. With 2x teleconverter on Tamron 90mm, the result is stunningly beautiful. Every shade, colour and minute detail on the subject is crystal clear.
The image is also a lovely composition with the subject spanning across the frame in diagonal orientation.
Regards.

Hello my friend Jaap. I´m happy to see a picture from you. I see you have a new camera. ;-)
This is a very nice shot. Great POV, sharpness and detail. Good exposure and a very nice bg. This is a great composition. Thank you.
Gr.
Heinz

Hi Jaap,
I love this one, I'm impressed that they are back yet, I haven't seen a single one of this species this year, but I think they will come soon. I saw the first butterflies in February, the weather is realy silly!
Thanks for your beauty, a wonderful pose, thanks and many greetings

Sir Jaap,

Good to see your work again, after I've been away from the site because of College.
Excellent shot, well done on the comp and details. Beautiful work.

Mike

Hi Jaap,
I didn't realise you were on this site too. I have a lot of catching up to do with viewing your gallery which I am certain will be worth the time. The is a fantastic image of this Dragonfly. The detail one can see is amazing. Great DOF too. Beautiful
Cheers,
Debbie

Hello Jaap,
This is very nice to see a new post from you. You were missed here :) Your notes are very interesting and I can imagine very well that in Netherlands you have so many species of Dragonflies. Hansh, who is one of your compatriots, also post many different species and I'm always amazed by this great diversity :)

This is a beautiful capture with excellent composition, beautiful colors, details and nice brilliance. I’m very surprised that you used ISO 800 as there is absolutely no noise seen here :) This is a high quality post, a standard that we are used coming from you. This is very well done and I hope to see many more new posts from you in a near future ;) Thanks!
